Gravity & Grace - Myth, Magic, Movement, & Meditation

This retreat is suitable for those who have a regular meditation practice and who regularly attend retreats, a centre or a group within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. You will also need to be familiar with, and happy to participate in, Triratna Buddhist devotional practice and ritual (puja), be comfortable with extended periods of sitting meditation and the possibility on some retreats of periods spent in silence.

For Dharma practice to truly flourish in our lives it needs to be rooted in our actual lived experience. We also need the sense of inspiration, uplift, perspective and possibility that the imagination can give us. These could poetically be termed 'gravity' and 'grace'.  So, how do we unite these sometimes seemingly contradictory forces?

On this retreat we will explore the combination of wise awareness of the body through meditation and gentle body work coupled with images, stories and creativity.  We will also over the course of the retreat create a community of practice and share our own experience and learn from, and support others, in a group context.  In this way, we can create a holistic environment where all aspects of our lives can become open to the transformational potential of the Dharma. A place of both grounded awareness and inspiration. With meditation, gentle body work, stories, group discussion, creativity and ritual.

Mandarava is an artist, storyteller and 'Somatic Experiencing' practitioner. She has led retreats for many years and has a gift for creating inspiring rituals that connect participants to their own depths and inspiration.

Satyamati has been a yoga instructor for over 30 years and regularly leads retreats. She has an engaging, playful and warm style of encouraging everyone to more fully inhabit their bodies, whatever their particular individual needs or abilities are.

Nagasiddhi regularly leads and supports retreats and is also a hospice chaplain and artist. He is known for the sense of humour and creativity he brings to his Dharma teaching. In particular, he helps others make connections between the Dharma and their own lives by using stories and images from other traditions. His own artwork can be viewed at nagasiddhi.com
