We see into the Life of Things: Writing and Dharma practice

This retreat is suitable for those who have a regular meditation practice and who regularly attend retreats, a centre or a group within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. You will also need to be familiar with, and happy to participate in, Triratna Buddhist devotional practice and ritual (puja), be comfortable with extended periods of sitting meditation and the possibility on some retreats of periods spent in silence.

If we had a keen vision and feeling of all ordinary human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow and the squirrel’s heart beat, and we should die of that roar which lies on the other side of silence.

 - George Eliot

On this retreat we will use creative writing as a way to deepen our Buddhist practice. In workshops we will explore nature by going outside, and use this to inform our writing and dharma practice -  finding way to make our vision more keen, seeing more deeply into the life of things. The weekend will include meditation, group writing sessions, rituals and a walk or two.
