Wolf at the Door: Dancing with Form and Freedom: where the wildness is

This retreat is suitable for those who have a regular meditation practice and who regularly attend retreats, a centre or a group within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. You will also need to be familiar with, and happy to participate in, Triratna Buddhist devotional practice and ritual (puja), be comfortable with extended periods of sitting meditation and the possibility on some retreats of periods spent in silence.

"One had a pretty face

And two or three had charm,

But charm and face were in vain

Because the mountain grass

Cannot but keep the form

Where the mountain hare has lain."

                – from 'Memory' by W B Yeats

A Buddhist writing retreat, exploring imagination through pen, paper - and the spaces in between…

Can we find the wildness of imagination through letting ourselves go with no limits, or do we find it through using particular literary forms or parameters? What have other writers and artists done? Is it possible to dance between the two?

In this retreat, through exercises and space to experiment, we will be exploring both using form and freeform, to explore our own wild inner landscapes together.

Come and delve deep with Wolf at the Door, in the beautiful surroundings of Rivendell.

Wolf at the Door writing workshops are woven with the Dharma and laced with the unexpected. No writing experience necessary, just a willingness to step through ‘the door’ of the imagination in the company of experienced 'wolf' guides.
